100 Ways

Each student in MICA ’s Graphic Design Post Baccalaureate class chose an object and portrayed it in 100 different ways with the greatest amount of variation possible. Through this process, students investigated both the qualities that make their object unique and the range of methods for depiction. The 100 ways project is at once a biography, a dissection, an exploration, and a jumping off point.

Paper cranes, which are known as “orizuru ” in Japan, where they were originated, is a design considered to be the most classic of all Japanese origami.

Paper cranes are often used as a ceremonial wrapper or restaurant table decoration in Japanese traditions. In addition, the paper cranes can be given as a gift since they represents peace and friendship.

You can fold a paper crane with a proper square size paper! How cool is that?

I was 6, or maybe 7, I can’t really remember right now, but honestly who cares at this point. My cousin came over for a lovely tea party (I am just kidding) with a big book that I had not seen before.

And of course being the curious me, I immediately opened it with eager.

Upon reading it, I realized it was a how-to book about making all kind of animals out of paper. FABULOUS RIGHT? At least to a 6 or 7 years old kid.

I thought it was easy, and so I attempted to make my first crane.

Oh look at me trying to be a smart ass. I sadly got stuck after like 3 steps (what the hell?).

It was not until my cousin demonstrated to me that I actually learned how to make a proper paper crane.

The paper crane is the only animal that I can make without looking it up on YouTube.

100 Ways Project

The wine bottle opener is hard, made of steel, but there is one part on the inside that is made of plastic. It is the only piece on the opener that is fully removable without any special tool or breaking of the object.

The wine bottle opener looks like a bird, a mechanical, wingless creature.

I see a woodpecker, a flamingo and a bird of paradise depending on how I open it. But I also see abstract forms.

You have taught me how to feel time.

Even when your blue bands are not encircled around my wrist, I still intuitively know the time that has passed.

The feeling comes from the rhythmic sounds...

that my body makes within itself and with nature

I thank you for your truth and honesty.

Orange.

Never too much orange.

Throughout my life I have always had cats. And in particular, orange cats. Male orange cats. Because they are the best kind of cat. Pumpkin, Marmalade, Arthur, Buzz, and my most recent acquisition Dude.

Fortunately, one can never have too many orange cats. ♡

Never. Too. Many.

Polaroid
is a
Dream

Polaroid SX-70 is an instant collapsible Single Lens Reflex camera introduced in 1972 by Polaroid founder Dr. Edwin Land.

It shines, emanates, and supports.

It is cold, but warm at same time.

It is real, but not real. It is personal, but preset.

It is psychological magic but physical scientific.

It is a dream maker, or a dream poker.

It is a self-reflector, or a self-recreator.

A Bag
of Tea

3 grams of loose tea leaves

one bag,
one string,
one tag

boil water

and steeeep

serve hot

or cold

add sugar to taste

mmmmm

aughhhhh

The most efficient method of steeping tea is by using a tea bag. All you need to do is pour boiling water over the tea bag that holds dried tea leaves and wait a few minutes until your beverage is ready. Although efficient, this method is not the most preferred because the tea leaves are dried and, most often, preservatives are added to extend the tea’s shelf life. Tea is the most versatile beverage out there. This is probably why it’s the most widely consumed beverage in the world. It’s served hot or cold and it’s available in a plethora of flavors. Tea has medicinal properties and is said to protect against cancer and cardiovascular disease. And, its value isn’t limited to beverage form either. You can add tea to meals and even use tea as broth for soups which is pretty tasty.

HEADPHONES (not a serious definition): the best way to make everyone start talking to you over your music or entertainment to piss you off.

Me: (Puts earphones in).
Mom: Get me some water!
Dad: Pass me my glass.
Sister: (Mouthing words).
Me: (Takes earphones out).
Everyone: (Shuts up).

HEADPHONES (a serious definition): a sound receiver which is usually plugged into a portable music device that fit directly into your ear which feeds the music information without emitting sound out around your neighbors. It is very convenient and you can share them easily.

NOTE TO SELF:

Wearing headphones doesn't make my farts silent.

I remember I used to collect keys to attach to my book bag for school along with key chains but none as fancy as this key.

I am sure this golden key has a purpose to unlock something hidden from the world and perhaps in the future it will be used to unlock just that.

The Key is golden

The texture is....

Smooth

It is heavy....

It is Gold
It is textured
But what is its purpose?

What does

What dwells

A treasure?

It
Unlock?

Behind the door?

A fortune?

Possibly...
